Grand Jamia Mosque, Lahore, Islamic worship center in Bahria Town, Lahore, Pakistan.
The Grand Jamia Mosque stands in Bahria Town, Lahore and covers a wide site with covered prayer halls and courtyards. Four minarets rise at the corners of the complex, while a central dome is surrounded by twenty smaller domes.
The building opened in October 2014 after several years of construction. Its completion marked one of the largest mosque projects in the region during that decade.
The exterior showcases millions of tiles that craftsmen shaped from local clay. Inside, the building holds a library where visitors can see handwritten Quran manuscripts displaying calligraphy from different centuries.
Visitors should wear modest clothing and bring head coverings, as these are expected in places of worship. The site is best explored outside the five daily prayer times, when fewer people are present.
Artisans spent four years installing handmade tiles on the walls, shaping each piece from Multani clay. The process required traditional skills passed down through generations of local craftsmen.
