Lipno is the administrative center of Lipno County in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in north-central Poland. The town sits roughly 43 kilometers southeast of Torun and serves as the hub for surrounding communities in the region.
The town received its municipal charter in 1349 during the Piast dynasty period. This grant established it as an important settlement in medieval Poland.
The town holds special recognition as the birthplace of influential figures including the film actress Pola Negri and the economist Leszek Balcerowicz.
The town is easily accessible and offers access to local services and transportation routes. As an administrative center, it has basic facilities and good connections to nearby towns.
A memorial stone in the market square honors ten Polish citizens executed by German forces on November 3, 1940. This monument preserves the memory of a tragic chapter during World War II in the town.
