Myślenice is a town in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, situated around 30 kilometers south of Krakow. The settlement spans six districts with the Raba River running through its territory at an elevation of 654 meters.
The town was founded in the 13th century as a fortified settlement to protect the southern approaches to Krakow from outside threats. This defensive purpose shaped its early growth and regional importance.
The Church of St. James the Apostle from the 15th century forms a section of the Way of St. James pilgrimage route with classicist tombstones in surrounding cemeteries.
