Drawsko Pomorskie, Administrative center in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
Drawsko Pomorskie is a town in West Pomeranian Voivodeship situated along the Drawa River. It occupies a location surrounded by forests and has access to nearby Lake Lubie.
A Slavic settlement with a fortress emerged here in the 7th century. The community received Magdeburg city rights in 1297, establishing it as a center of German expansion in the region.
The town developed as a medieval trading center, and this heritage remains visible in its street layout and architecture. The old market square still reflects the way merchants and craftspeople organized their businesses around its perimeter.
The town is easy to navigate on foot since the main areas are close together. The natural surroundings with river and lake provide opportunities for outdoor activities.
In 1368, a peace treaty was signed here between Brandenburg Elector Otto VII and Polish King Casimir III. This event made the town a significant diplomatic site between two neighboring powers.
