Świdnik is an urban municipality in Lublin Voivodeship situated approximately 10 kilometers southeast of Lublin. The town covers about 20 square kilometers and functions as the administrative hub for Świdnik County.
The settlement first appeared in historical records in 1392, though it only gained city status on January 1, 1973. This transformation marked its development into a formal urban center.
The city features a Roman Catholic church constructed in 1977, representing a significant addition to the municipal infrastructure following sustained community requests.
The town is easily accessible by rail and road, with a railway station and multiple expressway connections serving the area. These transport links make it simple to reach the surrounding Lublin metropolitan region.
The town is home to PZL-Świdnik, a helicopter manufacturing facility established in 1952 that continues producing aircraft today. This industrial operation has positioned the place as an important center for aerospace production in the region.
