Goleniów

Goleniów is a city in Western Pomerania with streets organized around a central market square at its heart. The town sits within a forested landscape and retains its medieval street layout alongside various local buildings and services.

The city received Magdeburg town rights in 1264, marking its entry into the commercial sphere, and later adopted Lübeck Law in 1314. These legal frameworks established its role as a Hanseatic trading center in northern Europe.

The annual Independence Mile running competition unites residents and visitors in celebration of Poland's National Independence Day through athletic participation.

An airport nearby provides connections to several European destinations and serves as the main regional transportation hub for the area. The town is small and walkable, making it easy to explore the main streets and market square on foot.

A historic waterway linked the town to the Ina River for direct trade, but the rise of neighboring Szczecin gradually shifted these maritime routes. The competition between the two cities eventually led to a major treaty that reshaped regional commerce.
