Krzeszów, Religious village in Lower Silesia, Poland

Krzeszów is a village in Lower Silesia that houses one of Poland's largest Baroque religious complexes, featuring an abbey, basilica, and multiple chapels spread across its grounds. These buildings form a large complex with distinct religious and architectural elements.

The abbey was founded in 1242 by Anne of Bohemia and became a major religious center that once controlled numerous villages and territories. Later it suffered severe damage during the Hussite invasions and required rebuilding.

The abbey church displays religious artworks, frescoes, and sculptures created by Silesian artists during the 17th and 18th centuries. These pieces reflect the strong artistic tradition that flourished here during the Baroque period.

Visitors can reach the village by road from nearby towns or from the direction of Wrocław in the northeast. The site is walkable, as the main buildings are located close to one another across the grounds.

The abbey cemetery contains gravestones that are several centuries old, with inscriptions in German, Czech, and Polish. This linguistic variety carved into the stones documents the mixed population that shaped the region across generations.
