Rowokół

Rowokół is a 115-meter summit located within Slowinski National Park, situated roughly 6 kilometers from the Baltic Sea coast. The mountain lies near Smołdzino village and can be reached via clearly marked walking routes.

Archaeological findings reveal an early medieval settlement from the 9th to 11th centuries once occupied the mountain's slopes. This early occupation demonstrates the site's long importance as a human destination.

The summit served as a pilgrimage destination for centuries, drawing visitors seeking devotion to the Virgin Mary. The remains of this sacred place still speak to the spiritual importance it held for local communities.

Yellow and blue marked trails guide visitors along a roughly one-kilometer route to the summit, achievable in about 20 minutes of walking. The straightforward ascent makes the climb accessible to hikers of varying abilities.

Maritime charts from 1695 documented this peak as a navigation marker for sailors along the coast, helping vessels determine their position. A signal fire once burned at the top to guide ships passing through the waters offshore.
