Grodziec Castle, Gothic castle in Lower Silesia, Poland

The stone fortress stands on a 389-meter-high volcanic hill near Bolesławiec, featuring defensive walls, towers, and a central courtyard.

Originally constructed in 1155 during the reign of Bolesław I the Tall, the castle transformed from wooden structures to brick fortifications under Henry I's rule.

The castle maintains a collection of medieval artifacts and hosts regular tournaments that demonstrate traditional combat techniques from the Middle Ages.

Visitors can access the castle daily from April through October, with guided tours available in Polish, German, and English for 10 PLN per person.

The castle's position atop an extinct volcano provides natural defense capabilities and allows visitors to view the entire Lower Silesian landscape.
