The town contains historical remnants of a 12th-century gord with traces of a moat and ruins of a 16th-century castle near the center.
In 1154, Prince Henry of Sandomierz granted the village, then named Vloszcova, to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta monks for settlement.
The town preserves its original 16th-century urban layout, with streets arranged according to medieval planning principles from King Zygmunt Stary's time.
Two railway stations, PKP Włoszczowa and PKP Włoszczowa Północ, provide transportation connections to major Polish cities through regional train services.
The town sits at an elevation of 240 meters above sea level and serves as a convergence point for three major roads: 786, 742, and 785.
