Gmina Morawica, Urban-rural municipality in Kielce County, Poland
Gmina Morawica is an urban-rural municipality in Kielce County, within Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in Poland. It covers a mix of built-up settlements, farmland, and forested land, with its administrative seat located in the village of Morawica.
The land around Morawica was farmed for centuries and remained rural, forming part of the agricultural surroundings of Kielce. The municipality as it exists today took shape during Poland's administrative reforms in the 1990s.
Gmina Morawica has a municipal partnership with Herbolzheim, a town in Germany, which has brought exchanges between Polish and German communities over the years. This connection is occasionally visible in local events and public life across the area.
Morawica sits just south of Kielce and can be reached easily by car or by local bus from the city center. Having your own transport is helpful if you plan to visit the smaller villages spread across the municipality.
Despite lying directly next to Kielce, Morawica has kept its own administrative status and has not been absorbed into the city. This makes it one of the rare cases where a municipality borders a regional capital while remaining fully separate.
