Gmina Biskupiec

Gmina Biskupiec is a rural municipality located in Nowe Miasto County within the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The area consists of scattered villages and hamlets spread across a landscape of farmland, forests, and small lakes typical of the Masurian region.

The municipality was reorganized in its current form during the 1999 Polish administrative reform that restructured local governance across the country. The region retains a historical German name from the pre-World War II era, reflecting the area's complex past.

The region maintains local governance traditions through elected councils and mayors who represent the interests of approximately 11,987 residents within the community.

The area is accessible by local roads connecting the scattered villages within the municipality. The best time to visit is during summer months when weather is dry and the rural landscape is most accessible for exploring.

The municipality is known by three different language names: Gmina Biskupiec in Polish, Gemeinde Bischofswerder in German, and Biskupieco apskritis in Lithuanian. This multilingual naming reflects how cultural and historical boundaries intersect in this corner of the Masurian region.
