Gmina Budzyń, Administrative district in Chodzież County, Poland
Gmina Budzyń is an urban-rural municipality in Chodzież County, in the west-central part of Poland, covering the town of Budzyń and several surrounding villages. The territory alternates between built-up areas and farmland, giving the whole area a mixed character.
The town of Budzyń received its formal settlement rights in the 15th century, which made it a recognized local center from an early stage. Over the following centuries the area passed through different rulers and state formations before becoming part of modern Poland.
In Budzyń there is a Baroque church that is still used for services today and gives a sense of the area's religious past. Next to it stands a former Protestant building that recalls the time when different communities lived side by side in this part of Poland.
The administrative center sits in the main part of the town of Budzyń and is easy to reach on foot if you are already in the area. Because the municipality covers both town streets and rural roads leading to the surrounding villages, it is worth checking a map before heading out to the more remote parts.
During the Second World War the population of the area was forcibly relocated, which permanently changed who lived there. Many of today's residents are descendants of families who arrived from other parts of Poland after the war ended.
