Cieszanów, Municipality in Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland
Cieszanów is a municipality in Subcarpathian Voivodeship located in Lubaczów County where the Brusienka river flows through a valley. The town sits at the edge of the southern Roztocze region.
In 1590, King Sigismund III granted Magdeburg rights to the settlement and named it after nobleman Stanisław Cieszanowski. This grant marked the start of its formal municipal status.
A Jewish cemetery from the late 19th century stands here, reflecting the religious diversity that once defined the town. This site speaks to the mixed communities who lived alongside one another and shaped local life.
The town center is easily accessible with basic facilities including schools and administrative offices. The flat terrain around the valley makes exploring the surrounding landscapes straightforward.
Slavic settlers built a fortification on the sandy banks of the Brusienka river in the 10th century. This early structure formed the foundation for what grew into the town we see today.
