Bolków Castle, Medieval castle ruin on Castle Hill in Bolków, Poland.
Bolków Castle is a ruined fortress built on a hilltop overlooking the Nysa Szalona River, featuring Gothic stonework and defensive structures. The site contains multiple towers and building fragments that visitors can walk through and examine today.
Construction began in 1277 when Prince Bolesław II of Legnica ordered the fortress built to protect trade routes in the region. His son later expanded the defenses significantly.
The castle houses a regional museum displaying medieval artifacts and hosts the annual Castle Party festival, gathering gothic music enthusiasts from across Europe.
Access to the grounds is available most days, though some areas may be closed at certain times. Wear sturdy shoes since the terrain is uneven and the paths up the hill can be steep.
The main tower has an unusual triangular stone projection pointing southward that stands out among Polish castles. This architectural feature becomes noticeable when viewing the ruin from different angles.
