Bolesławiec rail viaduct

The railway viaduct spans 490 meters across the Bóbr River with 35 stone arches and reaches a height of 26 meters above ground level.

The construction of this major railway infrastructure began in 1844 under Prussian architect Frederick Engelhardt Gansel and opened in September 1846 by King Frederick William IV.

The viaduct represents a period of rapid industrialization in Lower Silesia, connecting communities through the Miłkowice-Jasień railway line since the 19th century.

Trains can now travel at speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour across the bridge following extensive renovations completed in 2009.

The structure features 58 compact projectors mounted on the inner sides of the pillars, creating nighttime illumination since 2006.
