Church of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Biały Bór, Eastern Orthodox church in Biały Bór, Poland.
The Church of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a modern Orthodox building topped with a prominent dome. The dome displays Christ Pantocrator, the walls are dark green, and the interior features white partitions alongside a small iconostasis with three specific icons.
Built between 1992 and 1997, the church became a spiritual home for Ukrainians who had been displaced during Operation Vistula in 1947 from southeastern Poland. The structure represents a delayed but significant response to the spiritual needs of this displaced community.
The front wall acts as a monumental iconostasis with three doors bearing angel icons and the Veil of Veronica. This arrangement holds particular significance for worship and the spiritual life of those who gather here.
The church welcomes visitors during services and is accessible to those interested in the modern architectural design by Jerzy Nowosielski and Bogdan Kotarba. Check local service times before visiting to plan your trip accordingly.
The interior merges early Christian basilica elements with contemporary design in a way rarely seen in 1990s constructions. Three icons within the iconostasis were specifically created for this space by the architect Nowosielski.
