Kreis Meseritz, Administrative district in Posen Province, Poland.
Kreis Meseritz was an administrative district in Prussian Posen Province, extending across flat agricultural lands dotted with small towns. Meseritz served as the district's main administrative center in what is now western Poland.
The district was established in 1818 after separating from Kreis Birnbaum and remained under Prussian control until 1945. Following World War II, the area came under Polish administration through Soviet military operations.
The district maintained records through civil registry offices in multiple towns, including Altvorwerk, Bauchwitz, and Meseritz, documenting the local population movements.
The area today is integrated into modern Polish administration as Międzyrzecz County. Visitors explore the region through small settlements scattered across rural countryside.
The area held a mixed population that was predominantly German before being displaced through wartime exodus and postwar resettlement. This demographic shift shaped the region's administrative records and surviving documents.
