Syców is a town in Lower Silesian Voivodeship located roughly 47 kilometers northeast of Wrocław in southwestern Poland. It sits at an elevation of about 153 meters within gently rolling countryside that characterizes the region.
The settlement was first recorded in February 1276 as Syczowe and gained town rights before 1312 under Duke Konrad I of Oleśnica. Between the two World Wars, the Treaty of Versailles divided the area between Germany and Poland, creating administrative complications for the region.
