Niemodlin is a town in Opole County, located in a region of varied terrain at an elevation of about 177 meters. Its streets are laid out around a central marketplace that forms the heart of the settlement.
The settlement first appeared in written records in 1224 with the name Nemodlin and received town privileges in 1283. This elevated status eventually made it the seat of its own duchy in the area.
