Orneta, Medieval town in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Poland
Orneta stands among green hills in northern Poland, featuring Gothic architecture and a central Freedom Square surrounded by historical townhouses.
The town received its municipal rights in 1313 from Bishop Eberhard von Neiße and served as the temporary seat of Warmia bishops between 1341 and 1350.
The town crest depicts a dragon biting its tail, with the earliest known representation found on a document seal from 1388.

Astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus visited Orneta in 1538, and centuries later in 2010, a procession carrying his remains passed through the town.
