Gmina Kostomłoty is a rural municipality in Środa Śląska County in south-western Poland, covering a large expanse of countryside. Agricultural land dominates the territory, while forests cover the southern sections.
The municipality was established as an administrative unit in 1954 and operated as Kostomłoty Gromada until 1972. It was subsequently absorbed into Wrocław Voivodeship, where it remained until administrative reforms in 1998.
The area consists of roughly 30 villages that reflect typical rural Lower Silesian settlement patterns. These communities maintain a way of life centered around farming and local traditions.
The area connects to major transport routes through the A4 motorway and National Road 5. The nearest railway station is located in Kąty Wrocławskie, making it the main transit point for the region.
The municipality maintains a partnership with the French municipality of Sierentz, creating cross-border cultural connections. This arrangement links two rural communities across a considerable distance.
