Wąsosz, Podlaskie Voivodeship, Rural village in Podlaskie Voivodeship, Poland
Wąsosz is a village in Podlaskie Voivodeship that serves as the administrative center of its rural municipality. The settlement is located roughly 17 kilometers southwest of Grajewo and about 73 kilometers northwest of Białystok.
The settlement received Chelmno municipal rights in 1436 from Duke Władysław I of Płock. This status was revoked in 1870 when Russian authorities eliminated its town privileges.
The parish church from the early 1500s displays Gothic features, while the Baroque Church of the Nativity reflects how the community expressed its faith through architecture. Both buildings shape the visual character of the village.
The village offers basic services as a local administrative hub for the surrounding area. Visitors should plan time to explore the historic churches and the village center.
A Carmelite monastery was founded in 1605 and became an important place in the local community. It was closed in 1864 after providing support to those affected by the January Uprising.
