Gmina Kozienice, Administrative district in Kozienice County, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland.
Gmina Kozienice is an urban-rural municipality in the Masovian Voivodeship in east-central Poland. It consists of the town of Kozienice and numerous villages spread across flat to gently rolling terrain.
Kozienice developed from medieval times as a trading post along the Vistula River and later grew as an industrial center in the 1800s. The current municipality was formed in 1999 through Polish administrative reforms, bringing the town and surrounding areas under one jurisdiction.
Kozienice derives its name from an old Polish word related to goats. The area shows how urban life in the town and rural traditions in surrounding villages exist side by side.
The area is accessible by public transport, and most villages lie within reasonable distance from the town center. Visitors should know that rural areas have less developed infrastructure than the town itself.
The coat of arms displays a golden leaping stag on a blue field, referencing the nearby Puszcza Kozienicka forest, one of Europe's largest woodland reserves. This forest reserve shapes the character of the entire region.
