M2 metro line, Rapid transit railway line in Warsaw, Poland.
The M2 line is an underground railway route in Warsaw that runs roughly 19 kilometers and links the eastern district of Bródno with the western district of Bemowo. It includes 18 stations and passes through central and densely populated parts of the capital.
Construction on the central section started in 2006 and continued over several years. On March 8, 2015, the route began regular operations and greatly expanded the Warsaw public transport network.
The name M2 refers to the second major metro connection in the city and shows the gradual growth of the underground network. Commuters use this route daily to travel between the eastern and western neighborhoods and the city center.
Trains run on weekdays starting from 5:00 in the morning until shortly before 1:00 at night and continue longer on Friday and Saturday nights until around 3:00. Travel time from one end to the other takes roughly half an hour depending on traffic and waiting times.
The Świętokrzyska station allows transfers between the M1 and M2 through a system with opposing platforms. Passengers can switch directly from one train to the other without using stairs or corridors.
