33rd Air Base, base militaire en Pologne
The 33rd Air Base is a military facility near Powidz in Slupca County that operates transport and support aircraft for the Polish Air Force. It has two asphalt runways, the longer one measuring about 3,515 meters (11,532 feet), along with hangars and operational buildings for aircraft maintenance and logistics.
The base was established in 2000 as the 21st Air Base, replacing the 7th Bomber-Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment, and was renamed the 33rd Air Base in 2001. It has operated as a modern facility since 2010 to support Polish Air Force transport missions.
The base sits in an open, quiet area surrounded by forests and farmland with plenty of space for flight operations. Keep in mind this is an active military facility where access may be restricted, especially during operational periods.
Since 2019, the base has served as a storage depot for American military vehicles as part of a NATO-supported initiative, highlighting its strategic importance to the Western alliance. This role makes it a key hub for international military cooperation in Central Europe.
