Stare Kiejkuty, Intelligence training facility in Szczytno region, Poland
Stare Kiejkuty is an intelligence training facility located in the Szczytno region of northern Poland. The complex comprises a main residence, military buildings, and specialized training grounds arranged within a secured compound connected by private infrastructure.
The site operated as a German SD outpost during World War II before being converted in 1972 into Poland's primary intelligence training center. This transformation marked the country's move toward developing independent intelligence capabilities in the post-war period.
The site represents Poland's efforts to develop and maintain independent intelligence operations. During the Cold War period, it served as the only training center of its kind operating outside Soviet reach and control.
The complex connects to nearby Szczytno-Szymany International Airport through private access roads, allowing discreet arrivals and departures. The secured grounds are not readily visible from public areas, and entry is strictly controlled.
In 2014, Poland's President Kwaśniewski publicly confirmed that the facility hosted CIA operations between 2002 and 2003. This revelation illustrated the close cooperation between Poland and Western intelligence agencies in the years following Soviet domination.
