Stary Cmentarz w Łodzi, Historical cemetery in Łódź, Poland
The Old Cemetery spans 21 hectares and contains three separate sections for Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox denominations, featuring numerous monumental tombs and mausoleums.
Established in 1855 at the intersection of Ogrodowa and Srebrzynska streets, the cemetery became the final resting place for industrial magnates and cultural figures of 19th-century Łódź.
The cemetery holds over 200 registered monuments, including the Neo-Gothic Scheibler Chapel and Neo-Renaissance Heinzl Mausoleum, representing different architectural styles and artistic traditions.
Visitors can access the cemetery daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM during summer months and until 5:00 PM in winter, with the administrative office operating on weekdays.
The Gojżewski family tomb chapel stands at the boundary between Catholic and Orthodox sections, designed specifically to accommodate burials from both religious traditions.
