Dylewo Hills Landscape Park, Landscape park in Napromek-Leśniczówka, Poland
The Dylewo Hills Landscape Park is a protected area in the Warmia-Masuria region of Poland, covering rolling hills, mixed forests, and several lakes including Jezioro Francuskie. The terrain rises and falls noticeably, with some slopes dropping sharply to give wide views over the surrounding valleys and tree cover.
The park was established in the mid-1990s to protect the natural landforms of the Dylewo Hills. Before that, parts of the land were farmed, but since the park's creation most of the area has been left to grow back into forest and open countryside.
The area is a familiar weekend destination for people who live nearby, and the Napromek Nature Path near the village of Napromek gives visitors a close look at how the forest is managed and why parts of it are protected. Signs along the trail explain local wildlife and forestry practices in plain terms.
Comfortable walking shoes are a good idea since some trails cross steep or uneven ground. Sections near the Drwęca River and the lakes can be wet at certain times of year, so check conditions before setting out.
Within the park there are three separate nature reserves, each protecting something different: wildflowers near Jezioro Francuskie, a broadleaf forest, and a stretch along the Drwęca River. Rare plants such as orchids, white water lilies, and yellow lotus grow in the lakes and damp patches throughout the area.
