Franciscan Church, Zamość, Baroque church in Zamość, Poland
The Franciscan Church measures 56 meters in length and 29 meters in width, making it the largest religious structure in Zamość with three aisles.
The construction of this brick church began in 1637 under the supervision of architects Jan Jaroszewicz and Jan Wolff, reaching completion in 1685.
The interior of the church contains extensive polychromy decorations and sculptures that represent the religious artistry of seventeenth-century Poland.
Located at Staszica Street 1 in the Old Town district, the church stands near the Great Market Square and the Religious Art Museum.
The building served multiple functions through centuries, including a military storage facility, museum, cinema, and art school before returning to religious use.
