Piast Brewery, Industrial brewery complex in Wrocław, Poland.
Piast Brewery is a former industrial complex in Wrocław with structures dating from the 19th century and later production buildings. The site contains three main preserved buildings that reflect different phases of beer production and storage.
Founded in 1872 as Brauerei Pfeifferhof Carl Scholtz, the facility later passed to Polish ownership. After World War II, it became known as Piast and turned into one of the region's major beer producers.
The name references the Piast dynasty, Poland's first royal family that ruled from medieval times until 1370. The brewery carried this name with pride to signal its connection to Polish history.
The site is today partially accessible and still displays the massive brick structures typical of industrial architecture from that era. Plan time to explore, since the buildings are large and you can walk around the entire grounds.
During the 1950s, the brewery was a production giant, manufacturing hundreds of thousands of hectoliters of beer annually. This volume shows how central beer was to Polish culture and economy at that time.
