Sejny Synagogue

Sejny Synagogue is a house of prayer with neobaroque features located on Józefa Piłsudskiego Street, displaying white exterior walls and ornamental details. The structure now functions as an exhibition space managed by the Pogranicze Foundation, displaying collections related to Jewish history.

The building was constructed in 1885 and suffered significant damage during World War II. After the war it served as a fire station before restoration work began.

The synagogue stands as a reminder of the Jewish community that once formed a substantial portion of Sejny's population. Today visitors can see exhibitions that document the cultural life of this community.

The site is located in Sejny near the borders with Lithuania and Belarus and is accessible as an exhibition space. The white building with its ornamental details is easy to identify from the street and welcomes visitors.

The building stands directly next to a Dominican monastery featuring Renaissance architecture from a different era. These two religious sites side by side tell the story of this border town's diverse past.
