Following its construction in 1885, the building endured substantial damage during World War II and functioned as a fire station until restoration efforts began.
The synagogue reflects the presence of a Jewish community that made up half of Sejny's population in the early nineteenth century.
The structure now operates as an exhibition space under the management of the Pogranicze Foundation, displaying artifacts of Jewish culture and history.
Located near the borders of Lithuania and Belarus, this synagogue shares its neighborhood with a Dominican monastery featuring Renaissance architecture.
