Tuczno Castle

Tuczno Castle is a fortress-style residence in Poland with four corner towers that blend medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque features throughout its structure. The building combines its original defensive components with decorative and residential elements added during later periods.

The Wedel family built the first fortification in 1338 as a strategic point between Brandenburg and the Walcz region. This location made it an important site in the local history of the area.

The castle shows how medieval military design shifted toward Renaissance living spaces through construction changes made in the 16th century. You can see this evolution in the different architectural layers visible throughout the building today.

The site operates today as a hotel with a restaurant and meeting rooms where visitors can stay overnight. Those interested in dining or staying should check ahead, as the castle functions as a private property.

The castle endured multiple sieges by Teutonic Knights in the 15th century before returning to Polish control in 1466. These episodes of resistance reveal how important it was for defending the region.
