Zaborski Landscape Park, Nature reserve in Kościerzyna County, Poland
Zaborski Landscape Park is a protected nature area in Kościerzyna County covering about 340 square kilometers with around 48 lakes linked by the Brda River and its tributaries. The park combines forests, meadows, and shorelines into a single connected space.
The park was established in 1990 as a protected area for the natural resources of the Pomeranian region. This designation came as part of broader conservation efforts for the lake district and its diverse ecosystems.
Traditional wooden buildings of the Kashubian region dot the park's landscape, particularly the wooden church in Leśno from the 1600s. These structures reflect how local communities built their lives within this natural environment.
A network of hiking trails, cycling routes, and water paths cross the park, offering different ways to explore the lakes, forests, and meadows. It helps to check conditions before visiting and bring suitable gear for your chosen activities.
The park contains rare lakes with specialized plants like lobelia, species under threat across Europe. These waters provide home to the eagle owl, the continent's largest forest owl.
