Arsenał Wrocławski przy Bramie Mikołajskiej, Military arsenal near Mikołajska Gate, Wrocław, Poland.
Arsenał Wrocławski near Mikołajska Gate is a four-wing complex built in Gothic style with a central courtyard surrounded by former warehouse buildings. The structure spans multiple levels with solid masonry construction typical of medieval defensive buildings.
The complex began in 1459 as a granary near Mikołajska Gate and later transformed into an arms storage facility. This change made it a crucial military building for the city over the following centuries.
The building today houses museums displaying regional military items and archaeological finds that show how people lived and worked across different time periods.
The building sits centrally in the city and is easy to reach on foot through the surrounding streets. Inside, the museums offer displays to view as well as information to read about regional history and military heritage.
In 1962, workers discovered a 12th-century Romanesque stone carving of Saint Jaksa hidden within the building. This artwork had long been considered lost until its sudden rediscovery beneath the arsenal.
