Church of the Ascension in Ulucz

The Church of the Ascension is a wooden structure with a three-part design featuring a central dome above the nave. Small defensive windows are integrated throughout the building's walls, reflecting regional construction methods.

The structure was built in 1659 and has been registered as a cultural monument in Poland's heritage system. It has survived as a religious center through the centuries and remains protected as an immovable monument.

The interior displays a five-tiered iconostasis with painted icons that reflect Eastern Christian artistic traditions. Visitors can still see these artworks as expressions of the Greek Catholic faith practiced here over centuries.

Access involves some elevation change due to the hilly mountain terrain, so visitors should expect uneven ground. The building is small and compactly designed, making the interior space tight but intimate.

The Sobotki shelters on the women's gallery were built to provide overnight accommodation for visiting pilgrims. These protective spaces represent a rare example of pilgrimage infrastructure found in the region.
