Chańcza Lake

Chańcza Lake is an artificial reservoir in the southern part of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, formed by damming the Czarna Staszowska River. The water body covers 340 hectares and reaches depths between 3 and 11 meters, holding around 40 million cubic meters of water.

The reservoir was built between 1974 and 1984 as part of a regional water management project. The facility was designed to regulate the water balance of the region while also creating opportunities for recreation.

The name comes from a nearby village and the reservoir now serves as a weekend retreat for sailors and anglers from surrounding towns. Sandy beaches and sports fields along the shore draw families and water enthusiasts during warmer months.

Several campsites and rental stations for water sports equipment are spread along the shore, while fishing spots remain accessible at different points around the lake. Information about permits and facilities is available from the local office on Ogrodowa Street.

The waters are home to several fish species including pikeperch, bream, catfish, bass, carp, and grass carp, attracting anglers throughout the year. This variety resulted from deliberate stocking efforts following the completion of the dam.
