Dom Turysty in Augustów, Cultural heritage site in Augustów, Poland
Dom Turysty is a two-story brick building with a rectangular footprint and pitched roof located in Augustów. The structure extends toward Lake Necko in the northern area and contains 70 rooms with around 100 beds.
Construction began in October 1937 following designs by architects Stanisława Nowicka, Maciej Nowicki, and Władysław Stokowski. The company D. Cieślik built the structure, creating an important example of interwar architecture.
The building displays modernist architecture from the interwar period, with yellow brick and stone cladding creating a distinctive appearance. This style reflects how Polish architects designed public spaces during that era.
The building provides direct access to the lake and its own beach area for visitors. Parking is available on site and the interior includes a dance hall, billiards room, and card game areas.
A commemorative plaque on the front facade honors architect Maciej Nowicki for his role in creating this building. The marker reminds visitors of his contribution to the design of this location.
