Fort Sokolnického

Fort Sokolnickiego is a military fortification in Warsaw's Żoliborz district with brick walls and a dry moat surrounding the structure. The interior features a glass-covered courtyard and original cellars that now serve various purposes for visitors and events.

The structure was built between 1849 and 1851 as Fort Siergieja and underwent significant modifications from 1864 to 1874. It received its current name in 1921, marking the beginning of its later identity.

The fort operates today as a cultural center where residents gather for exhibitions, concerts, and community events. You can feel how the space has shifted from its military purpose to become a place where people come together.
