Ludwig Buchholz's tannery in Bydgoszcz

The tannery building features a red brick facade with large windows and architectural details typical of industrial structures from the 1860s.

Founded by Ludwig Buchholz in 1862, the tannery grew from a small workshop with two employees to a major facility processing 140,000 skins annually.

The factory complex represents the industrial development of Bydgoszcz during the nineteenth century, when leather production drove local economic growth.

Located at the intersection of Garbary and Grottger streets along the Brda River, the building now houses the Private University of Economy.

The factory maintained its original leather production methods for 130 years until 1992, making it one of the longest-operating tanneries in Poland.
