Nature reserve Bobry w Uhercach

Nature reserve Bobry w Uhercach is a protected area near Uherce that connects various habitats across its land. The landscape features winding river courses, wetland areas, and former extraction pits that together create a complex environment for wildlife.

European beavers were introduced to the Osława Valley in the early 1980s to restore the species to the region. A pair subsequently settled near the Olszanka River, marking the beginning of successful reestablishment in this area.

The name reflects the beavers that inhabit this area and have shaped its character over decades. Visitors can observe traces of their activity along the river banks, where felled trees and gnawed logs reveal the presence of these animals.

The area has walking paths along the river where visitors can observe beavers and other wildlife. The best time for wildlife viewing is during quieter seasons when animal movements are more predictable.

The reserve uses former gravel pits that once served construction for the Solina dam and has transformed them into new habitats. These artificially altered areas have unexpectedly become excellent wetland environments that now support numerous species.
