Nature reserve Bocianowskie Bagno, Nature reserve near Celestynów, Poland
Bocianowskie Bagno Nature Reserve is a woodland area near Celestynów featuring high sand dunes covered with old pine stands and extensive marshlands. The landscape combines dry dunes with wet bogs and shallow peat lakes, creating a diverse environment.
The reserve was established in 1982 to protect pine forests growing on dune and peat soils in the Mazovian region. This protection recognized the importance of these natural landscapes for preserving rare species and their habitats.
The reserve is home to black storks, cranes, and moose that inhabit this mixed woodland and marsh environment. It represents a typical example of Polish forest nature with its blend of dunes, pines, and wetlands.
The site is accessible by public transportation from the PKP-Kołbiel-Rynek station and features a marked educational trail called Celestynowskie Forests. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear as parts of the area are boggy and marshy.
The area is home to rare carnivorous plants such as bladderwort and round-leaved sundew that thrive in the peat lakes. Northern water lilies also grow there, an unexpected plant species for a lowland region.
