Nature reserve Buczyna

Nature reserve Buczyna is a protected forest area in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship featuring old beech woods and waterlogged depressions. The landscape includes wet zones with alder trees interspersed among the mature deciduous forest.

The reserve was established in 1958 to protect beech forests at the eastern edge of their natural range. Earlier protection proposals from the 1930s laid the groundwork for this conservation effort.

The reserve functions as an educational center where visitors learn about forest ecosystems through guided programs and environmental monitoring activities.

Visitors can walk marked trails throughout the reserve while following conservation rules to protect the delicate environment. Respectful behavior helps preserve this protected area for future visitors.

Beech trees here exceed 160 years in age, making this one of the oldest beech forests in the region. These ancient trees offer a glimpse into forest development spanning more than a century.
