Rezerwat przyrody Bukowa Góra

Bukowa Góra Nature Reserve is a forested area with steep slopes where beech and larch trees grow among ravines that cut through the terrain.The protected zone covers about 30 hectares along the Odra Valley near Otyń municipality in Lubuskie Province.

The area was officially recognized as a nature reserve in 1954 through a ministry decree and became the oldest protected natural zone in the former Zielona Góra province.This early designation established the site as a pioneer in regional nature conservation.

The reserve belongs to two Natura 2000 network areas that represent the ecological importance of the Odra Valley for the region.The forests here support plant and animal species tied to the river valley landscape.

Access to the reserve is via paths near the Otyń area,where observation points are set up along the old Odra riverbed.Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since the steep slopes and uneven ground demand careful footing.

The area sits on soils with varying compositions ranging from slightly loamy to sandy substrates that shape the diversity of forest types on the slopes.This natural soil variation supports different plant communities within the same protected site.
