Rezerwat przyrody Cisowa Góra, Nature reserve in Bardo Mountains, Poland
Rezerwat przyrody Cisowa Góra is a nature reserve in the Bardo Mountains located on the northern slopes of Mount Buczek. The terrain consists of mixed forest with steep hillsides and natural depressions characteristic of the mountainous landscape.
The Polish Ministry of Forestry established this protected area in 1953 to preserve the natural habitats of yew trees in the Sudeten region. This decision was made to safeguard the rare tree populations from further damage.
The forest contains old specimens of maple, lime, elm, fir, spruce, and oak that represent fragments of the original Sudeten Forest. These tree species shape the appearance of the protected area today.
The reserve operates under active protection measures and is not open for general public access. Those interested in visiting should contact the Bardo Śląskie Forest District in advance to inquire about access possibilities.
The yew tree population in the reserve has declined noticeably over recent decades, illustrating the difficulties in protecting this rare and vulnerable species. Despite its protected status, preserving these trees remains an ongoing challenge for forest management.
