Rezerwat przyrody Lasy Janowskie

Lasy Janowskie is a large forest reserve with wetland features, made up of mixed woodland, peat areas, and water bodies scattered throughout. The water shapes much of the landscape and creates different habitats in close proximity.

The area became a protected reserve in 1984 to safeguard a location with significant wartime history. During World War II, a major confrontation occurred here that remains important to the region's identity.

The reserve takes its name from the nearby town of Janów Lubelski and holds memorial sites that visitors encounter while walking through the forest. These places shape how people understand the relationship between the land and the events that unfolded here.

The entrance has a large parking area for cars and buses, with a marked walking trail leading into the reserve. The path is manageable in length and takes visitors through different sections of the forest.

The reserve is home to an exceptional variety of plant species and provides habitat for numerous bird species. This biological richness makes it an important destination for nature watchers from across the region.
