Rataj, Volcanic summit in Kaczawskie Foothills, Poland.
Located at 350 meters above sea level, Rataj features steep slopes and displays prominent basalt columns formed through ancient volcanic processes.
The summit contains remnants of a medieval defensive complex with two belts of protective embankments separated by moats from the 13th century.
Rataj functions as an educational site where geological workshops examine the formation of volcanic structures and regional mineral compositions.
Visitors can reach the summit through a marked red trail from the Myślibórz Gorge parking area within a 30-minute walking distance.
The eastern quarry wall reveals a 20-meter-high formation of vertical basalt columns measuring between 20 to 30 centimeters in thickness.
