Skansen „Zagroda Sitarska”, Folk museum in Biłgoraj, Poland

Skansen Zagroda Sitarska is a farmstead museum in Biłgoraj displaying the buildings of a sieve maker from the 19th century. The site includes the dwelling house, a storage barn, a wagon shed, and additional farm structures, all constructed from wood.

The homestead was established in 1810 as a sieve maker's residence and reflects the rural architecture of the region. The sieve-making craft was an established trade in Biłgoraj from the 16th century onward and shaped the local economy across generations.

The household rooms display traditional sieve-making tools and show how craftspeople worked within their family setting, passing skills from one generation to the next. This arrangement reveals how closely the craft was woven into daily family life.

The museum area is not large, so a few hours are enough for a full visit. It is helpful to take time with the wooden structures and explore the various work rooms to gain a better understanding of the craft practices used.

The windows of the house contain twelve separate glass panes arranged in a distinctive pattern, a hallmark of Biłgoraj building tradition. This handcrafted construction method reflects local architectural practices and was carefully preserved during the museum's reconstruction.
