Divine Mercy Sanctuary in Białystok, Modern Catholic sanctuary in Białostoczek district, Poland

The Divine Mercy Sanctuary in Bialystok is a modern brick church with modernist design elements built across two levels. The lower level houses a crypt space while the upper level functions as the main chapel with a prominent papal altar.

Construction began in the mid-1980s following official approval, with the lower church consecrated by Bishop Edward Kisiel in December 1986. The project originated from a community petition expressing the need for a dedicated worship space in this neighborhood.

The sanctuary serves as a center for Divine Mercy devotion, where visitors practice prayers and rituals rooted in the teachings of Sister Faustina Kowalska. The space brings together people seeking spiritual connection through this particular form of Catholic faith.

The sanctuary is located on Blessed Father Michal Sop óck o Square in the Bialostoczek neighborhood and hosts regular services throughout the week. The building is easily accessible on foot from nearby residential areas.

The sanctuary came into being through a resident petition filed in 1982, expressing the community's desire for a dedicated space to honor Divine Mercy. This grassroots effort shows how deeply this spiritual practice was rooted in the neighborhood.
