Sępia Góra, Mountain summit in Izera Mountains, Poland
Sępia Góra is a mountain summit in the Izera Mountains that rises to about 828 meters and features prominent white granite-gneiss rock formations known as Biały Kamień. These light-colored boulders form the distinctive landmark at the top and are visible from many directions.
The mountain was previously known by its German name Großer Geierstein and forms the westernmost point of the Kamienicki Ridge. This location made it an important landmark in the area's geography.
The mountain holds deep roots in local tradition, with stories of ancient sacred spaces and gathering places passed down through generations. People today still connect this peak to the region's earliest inhabitants.
A marked trail leads to the summit from Świeradów-Zdrój and takes about one hour to walk because the route climbs steeply. Sturdy footwear is important because of the uneven ground and rocks along the way.
The rock formations contain notable deposits of white quartz that give the mountain its bright appearance and make it stand out from surrounding peaks. This mineral content is what makes the boulders so visible even from far away.
